The ‘Spatenhaus an der Oper’ is situated opposite the Bavarian Opera House and represents Bavarian hospitality in its finest form.
On the first floor you will be served delicious Bavarian roasts, lovers of the “straight forward kitchen” will feel at home here. One should mention that many of our guests visit the Spatenhaus because our recipes are taken from old Bavarian cook books, which for many guest bring back childhood memories. A fine stuffed breast of veal, meatballs made of succulent beef, served with homemade potato salad or a slowly baked cabbage roll are just some examples of the specialities of Johann Fusseder’s kitchen.
The second floor is divided into four separate intimate rooms offering a fantastic view of the opera house. The rooms are furnished in harmony to the fine cuisine, with a great attention for detail, and paying homage to our cultural neighbours.
The chef offers very creative menus. A wide selection of seafood as well as classical Bavarian and Austrian dishes form a first class combination for every taste.
Unlike.net comments the "Spatenhaus an der Oper" as follows:
"This is a Bavarian establishment of the old school. Expect high ceilings, chandeliers and recipes passed down through the generations. In fact, there’s two restaurants and two different menus. The ground floor is an informal, beer and brimstone kind of place. Whereas upstairs offers a more refined international menu with views on the opera house. And true to its name, Spatenhaus stays open late so the culture vultures can flutter in for post-performance drinks."
